Deep Reports extend Surface with three additional signal sources — performance, DOM time-series, and API intercept. Use them when a positioning summary is not enough and you need data on what is actually changing.
What a Deep Report adds
- Performance trends — your own video and social performance over time.
- DOM time-series — your product UI changes (rollouts, A/B tests).
- API intercept — live product data captured from API responses.
- Internal signals — product analytics and CRM data (Scale and above).
Sources used
- · Website — DOM + OG meta from your landing pages
- · Reviews — G2, Capterra, TrustRadius reviews
- · Competitors — Top 3 competitor landing pages
- · Market — Competitor landing changes over time
- · Performance — Your own video/social performance trend
- · Internal — Product analytics, CRM, usage data
- · DOM Time-Series — Your product DOM changes over the past 30 days (rollouts, A/B tests). Refreshed weekly via Continuous Intelligence.
- · API Intercept — Live product data captured from API responses
- · Pattern Library — Comparable precedents from other SaaS products
When to run a Deep Report
- After a feature launch — see what changed in your DOM and analytics.
- Quarterly review — track positioning drift versus competitors.
- Before a board update — pull a single artifact that summarizes recent product motion.
Report-backed video activation
When a Deep Report has an activation-ready move, the report page can show an activation rail next to the analysis. The rail keeps the long-form report as the source of truth and gives you a compact path into production:
- Review the recommended move and why it matters.
- Check the source evidence count and supported claims.
- Confirm the output capability before creating a Studio draft.
- Start the draft with Activate in Studio.
Deep Report activations are strongest when the video should prove a real product workflow or product change. Calendar items created from the same activation keep the source label and proof cue visible.
